The Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites for Hindus. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple is located in Devgarh, a place in Jharkhand known for its religious importance. It's celebrated as an important holy site because it houses Baba Baidyanath, a Jyoti Linga whose light emanates through 21 other temples. With the main temple here being dedicated to this figure, it includes a total of nine high-maintenance sanctums.
The Vaidyanath temple is also known as Devghar, the place where the temple is located. It is said that all the wishes of those who come here are fulfilled. Because of this, this Jyotirlinga is also called 'Kamna Linga'.
There are also three more temples in the market of Devgarh. They are known as Baiju Temple. The construction of these temples was done by the descendants of the chief priests of Baba Baidyanath temple.
The stories of Shiva Puranas describe King Ravana realizing that his capital city would never be perfect without Mahadev. He wanted to make sure Mahadev was given the best attention and care in town. As he came close to decapitating the tenth head, Lord Shiva blessed him by allowing him to take Mahadev's self part with him. Ravana was glad and took Shivalinga back with him to Lanka.
Lord Shiva temple is known for Basukinath. It is thought that the visit to Vaidyanath Temple is considered incomplete until you visit Basukinath Temple. However, there's no such description in the Puranas, so this temple is situated near the village of Jarmundi, 42 kilometers from Dehradun. Here various forms of local art can be seen, including folk artwork. Its history is linked to Ghatwal. There are many other small temples within the premises of Basukinath temple.
The Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple is considered to be one of the twelve most important and sacred jyotirlingas in India, as well as being one of the most majestic temples in all of India. It's located in the Deoghar division and consists of not only the main temple of Baba Baidyanath but also twenty-one other significant and beautiful temples.
Millions of devotees visit the Baba Baidyanath Dham Temple during the Shravan month. They are said to be carrying water from the Ganges River, which is 108km away, to their temple.
The time for worshipping the Baidyanath Jyotirlinga is 4:00 AM. The earliest hour of Baidyanath puja is from 4:00 AM to 5:30 AM when the temple will be open for others till 3:30 PM.
The temple opens for the general public at 6 PM and worshiping begins again. The Shringar Puja takes place at 8:00 PM. The temple closes its gates at 9 PM.
